On route from England direction Den Helder and Wadden Sea to meet own bombers for home escort. Capt. Hyde looks under the clouds past Den Helder, turns with the bombers, but a possible empty B-24 lifts up and hits him. Both down in Waddensee above Breezand on Closure dam Afsluitdijk. Pilot never found, MIA. |
