On return from target near Hannover attacked by fighters, dropped out of formation under the undercast under control. Crew jumped southeast of Harderwijk. Aircraft smashed on the road Garderen - Uddel. Eventually all POW, one KIA buried Harderwijk. |
Six were captured on the Elspeeter Heath same day by German soldiers of the 2nd. Regiment Panzergrenadiers of the Hermann Göring Division. Three men * (Fischer, Mallard and Teal) were recorded by the Germans as 'escaping'.
