On route back to England his aircraft went missing over the North Sea. Probably shortage of fuel or engine problems. Germans reported this P-47 down 4 mile off IJmuiden port. 12:30h, pilot KIA. |
Body of Lt. Osborn washed ashore on the 13th of January 1944. Buried in Amsterdam on the 17th as 'English military'.
