Dutch: Vertrok 23:30u van vliegveld Breighton in East-Yorkshire. Bremen werd gebombareerd tussen 01:15 en 02:30u. Aangevallen door nachtjager op heenweg om 01:09u. Aanval was noord van Urk. Bommenlading een 4000 lbs "Cookie" en brandbommen. Alleen F/O Lark kon na verloop van tijd gewond het vliegtuig per parachute verlaten. Hij zag de Wellington nog hevig brandend dalend doorvliegen. Zelf kwam Charles Lark in het meer Beulakerweide terecht, oost van Vollenhove. Het vermoeden is dat ook het vliegtuig met de overige vier bemanningsleden in het Beulakermeer is gestort. Wrak en de andere vier Australiers zijn nooit gevonden (MIA). Zie kaart onder en het heftige verhaal van Flying Officer Charles Lark (POW). Hij zag na de nachtjageraanval staartschutter Sgt. Jack Hancocks naar voren gaan om te helpen, maar Hancocks kwam niet terug. Mogelijk heeft Hancocks de (zwaar) gewonde piloot Sgt. Whittick geassisteerd het vliegtuig in de lucht te houden tot het einde, mogelijk geprobeerd te ditchen op het water. Op de Loss-card van dit vliegtuig staat bij de MIA crew: "Sunk with plane".
English: Took-off 23:30u from AFB Breighton in East Yorkshire. Bremen was bombed between 01:15 and 02:30h. Attacked by German nightfighter on route to Bremen at 01:09u, this was north of Urk. Bomb load was a 4000 lbs "Cookie" plus incendairy bombs. Only F/O Lark was able to leave the aircraft wounded after some time by parachute. He saw the Wellington flying on, burning fiercely and decending. He came down in Lake Beulakerweide, east of Vollenhove. It is suspected that also the aircraft with the other four crew came down in Lake Beulakerweide (crashed). Wreck and the other four Australians were never found (MIA). See map under and the moving story of Flying Officer Charles Lark (POW). He saw after the attack rear gunner Sgt. Jack Hancocks go front to help, but he did not return. Possibly has Hancocks assisted the (heavily) wounded pilot Sgt. Whittick to keep the aircraft in the air till the end, possibly they have tried to ditch. On the Loss-card of this aircraft is noted at the MIA crew: "Sunk with plane".
