IJMUIDEN - CEMETERY 'DUINHOF'
On this civilian cemetery are Dutch war graves, no commonwealth. Two are Dutch pilots who were flying in Dutch RAF squadrons (320 and 322) and were killed in action. 1 Lt. W. Matthijsen was shot down in his Hudson on a nightraid to Bremen on 26st of June 1942. He was moved to here after the war. His crew are interred in Bremen. Lt. A. A. Homburg was already a Dutch war hero before he went flying Spitfires. He was killed over the South of the Netherlands in 1945 and post war re-interred here. IJmuiden was his hometown.
